What's with the term "******" and "cracker"?

I think black people find it offensive when white people call them those names because in the past when white people said it, it was in a hate full way and black people still feel hurt by it. but why some black people call themselves that after the YEARS of white people, slave owners called them nigers and ****** i will NEVER understand??!!
