If i have food poisoning, how far back should i look to identify the likely bad food I ate. Is it 1/2 days?

I had a pretty bad upset stomach last night. The night before I had dinner with a few colleagues at a restaurant (fish and scallops). Is that the likely cause? I haven't yet asked my colleagues if they experienced anything. In any case, we all had different dishes. The previous evenings, I had dinner with my family at home and no one has had any problems. What I'd like to know is how long does it take for some bad food to result in an upset stomach. Is it 24 hrs, 48 hrs? Thank you if you can provide an answer.
