Is my power steering pump damaged?

you're probably fine, you have to run those pumps dry for quite a while, it sounds like you never ran it dry, the fluid may have leaked out but as long as you didnt run around "strong arming it" you should be OK. replace the hose and fill er up. if it doesnt make noise and the power ist works good you are all good.
