Whats riding the amtrak like? It's long distance.?

I l enjoy train travel: Overall, it's a better group of riders than on buses. It's not cramped, and you do not have to stay in your seat. You will sleep in your seat, unless you want to pay BIG bucks for a bed in a very small space. Many routes have a dining car (tables/chairs, menus, and a waiter) which is not cheap. Other trains have more informal choices (see link below), but I'd bring at least some food of my own if I were you. Socializing is possible with others sitting near you in coach or dining, but the most socializing is usually done in the lounge (bar) car.
