I want to program a video game.?
I started with C++ for Dummies and that will far from be enough. I recommend actually taking your copy of C++ for Dummies and burning it because it is a complete waste of time. Pick of Horton's Beginner C++ instead, and after thoroughly reading that get C++ Primer Fourth Edition, and thoroughly read that as well. Then it is time to start hunting for an engine (for a simple game, trust me, as much as you want to say Hey I made everything from scratch! there are plenty of engines that will look exactly like yours already out and are probably written better). The only thing I am wondering is why you are even bothering to go to school. I would just skip a few years until you know all this stuff and then see if you can accelerate through it, I know a few schools around me that offer advanced placement. It seems like a horrible waste of your future money to throw away on something you don't want to sit through in cl for.
